The April 25, 2020 generosity365 Academy will take place as planned via live streaming.
The generosity365 Academy Planning Team has decided not to cancel the Academy, but in the spirit of innovation and stewardship of resources, proceed with the event using the remote attendance option already in place.
Workshops have been adjusted to be more relevant to the current situation related to COVID-19. Marcia Shetler, Executive Director/CEO of the Ecumenical Stewardship Center, will share “Yeast, Salt, and Light: Adaptive Stewardship Ministry”. Rev. Dr. Clayton Smith’s workshop has been changed to a presentation on his most recent book: Growing Through Disaster: Tools for Financial and Trauma Recovery in Your Faith Community. Other workshops, including “New Channels of Giving”, will be presented as previously scheduled.
Along with the uncertainty about meetings and travel, the generosity365 Planning Team acknowledges that this is a time of financial anxiety for churches and the communities they serve. The Planning Team has decided to offer registration for the April Academy for any donation amount, including free of charge, to be faithful in their common call to grow a vibrant church through faithful generosity.
Registration has been extended to Wednesday, April 22.
For all of us, this is a time of unprecedented challenge.
For many churches, it is also a time of financial anxiety. In the non-profit world, churches had an advantage because they gathered together and an invitation to give was shared every week. At the moment, churches have lost that advantage, If you have been putting off thinking about giving beyond the offering plate, you probably aren’t doing that any more.
Every church is different. Not all of these ways to give will apply to you. But every church can and should consider giving beyond the offering plate. Read more of our blog post 9 Ways to Give Beyond the Offering Plate & 5 Things You Should Do When You Use them.
Now might be a great time to consider your church’s present and future generosity.
