Plan NOW to attend Generosity NOW

Generosity NOW, formerly the North American Conference on Christian Philanthropy, has been a premiere Ecumenical Stewardship Center event for decades. Laypersons, pastors, and judicatory and denominational staff who attend Generosity NOW increase their knowledge about spiritual principles and best practices relating to faithful stewardship and generous giving through plenary sessions, workshops, and worship.

Generosity NOW plenary speakers will be Dr. Lovett H. Weems, Jr., and Dr. Ann A. Michel from the Lewis Center for Church Leadership at Wesley Theological Seminary. The Lewis Center for Church Leadership provides numerous resources, information, and strategies for forward-thinking church leaders.

Stewardship & Culture Online Course Begins January 2

Registration is now open for the Stewardship and Culture: Building Contagious Generosity online course. The Rev. Dr. Betsy Schwarzentraub is the instructor.
Because transformative stewardship includes understanding of our culture, the Stewardship and Culture: Building Contagious Generosity course will explore how our culture influences faithful stewardship and generous giving. Students will be able to frame insightful critical questions about consumerism, embrace God's vision of sufficiency, recognize the additional impact of technology on consumerism, and begin to create a Generosity Plan for their congregation.

January Author Chat Features Rebekah Burch Basinger

Well-known author, speaker and consultant Rebekah Burch Basinger has helped numerous faith-based nonprofits and their boards to fulfill their missions with economic vitality. She has held administrative positions at three Christian colleges, directed a grant-funded project for the Coalition of Christian Colleges (now Council for Christian Colleges and Universities), and worked with the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania as the Director of the Foundation for Independent Colleges of Pennsylvania. She is co-author with Dr. Thomas Jeavons of the book, Growing Givers' Hearts: Treating Fundraising as Ministry, and looks forward to chatting with you about helping faith-based nonprofits (including churches) prosper as givers' hearts grow in faith.

The Ecumenical Stewardship Center Office will be closed December 26-30, 2016. We look forward to serving you until then in December and again in 2017.

Enough: a Faith Connection

Jesus talks about the intimacy our hearts have with our treasure before he gets to reminding us not to worry. He encourages us not to store up stuff that breaks, rusts, wears out, and can be stolen. In other words, any stuff stored up is what captures our hearts and becomes what we love. It can take us away from what God intended in the good creation as abundance for all. Rather it becomes scarcity for ourselves. More
