The generosity365 Academy is a series of three 1+day events that will inspire, engage, and inform steward leaders from congregations, judicatories, and denominations as they practice faithful generosity. They include inspiring worship, an engaging keynote, and 12 informative workshops (4 at each Academy) on topics that churches are interested in learning more about, such as narrative budgeting, fiscal transparency and accountability, engaging new stewards, legacy giving, new channels of giving, and much more.

Dates and locations for the Academies are:

  • April 24-25, 2020: St. Louis, Missouri
  • October 2-3, 2020: Location TBD
  • February 19-20, 2021: Fullerton, California

Keynote: “Connecting Mission, Ministry, and Money” presented by Rev. Janet Long, former pastor at the Washington Avenue Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Elyria, Ohio, and current staff member of the Center for Faith and Giving for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Workshop: “Leading as Steward” presented by Mary MacGregor, Canon for Congregational Vitality and Mission Amplification (retired) for The Episcopal Diocese of Texas

Workshop: “Engaging New Stewards” presented by Gretchen Colon, staff for philanthropic strategists Cramer and Associates, Columbus, Ohio

Workshop: “Offering Invitations that Ignite the Joy of Generosity” presented by Rev. Dr. Clayton Smith, retired executive pastor of stewardship and generosity for the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, Kansas

Workshop: “New Channels of Giving” panel discussion facilitated by Keith Mundy, assistant director for stewardship for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

All participants will attend all four workshops.


The conference begins at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 24 and concludes at 4:30 pm on Saturday, April 25.

Location, Lodging and Transportation

The April Academy will take place at the Parkway United Church of Christ, 2841 N Ballas Road in St. Louis, Missouri. Academy participants should make their own lodging arrangements at the hotel of their choice. Many hotels are near the church. Conference participants also need to care for their own transportation to and from the church.
